What are the Schools Up To?

How much freedom remains when government funding, services, data collection, and school-choice programs enter the homeschool and private-family space? In this conversation with Private Families, Common Core Diva Lynne Taylor examines what parents should know about the expanding reach of education policy beyond the public-school classroom. The discussion explores government-funded school choice, education savings accounts, homeschool independence, student data and biometrics, social-emotional and behavioral assessments, school-based health services, workforce-aligned education, and parental rights. Taylor also discusses ways parents and citizens can investigate government actions, hold public officials accountable, and protect family autonomy. The central warning throughout the conversation is simple: families should carefully investigate the mandates, data requirements, and government control that may accompany programs or services advertised as “free.”
