Weekend News

Anti CCSS Warriors: Mother’s Day Weekend is upon us. While I wish each of you who are Moms a great time celebrating, there is still much for us to share in helping us fight this War Against the Core. Here are some of the latest resources from the past couple of weeks, in case you missed them.

From ‘It’s About the Child’/’Bears and Lord Network’:

This hardworking group just wrapped up a 3 day marathon concerning the overreach in education from the federal level. You can access the entire marathon on Roku and LiveStream. Quite a few of our fellow Warriors were featured. You can also find clips on the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/About-The-Child-914500671951994/
The LiveStream link:

From the ‘CCSS Machine’:

During April 2016, I was blocked, banned, and put in Facebook ‘jail’ more times than ever. Warriors, the censorship from the CCSS Machine is not exclusive to myself..it is happening more and more to others of us as well. As you know the founder of Facebook is a huge CCSS Machine member. But are you aware that Zuckerburg AND Gates (and many, many others) are behind the push to implore Congress with a petition for MORE CCSS, CCR, STEM, CTE, and NGSS (Common Core State Standards; College/Career Readiness; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; Next Generation Science Standards)
See the petition:

ICYMI on My Blog:

Just this past week, I gave a huge 1, 2 punch in the gut about the 2 biggest American Teachers Unions being used as fronts by the CCSS Machine. If you haven’t read them:
https://www.commoncorediva.com/2016/05/03/turn-the-ccss-page-please/
(*Note: Exposed the TURN Organization, a Network combining the educational change agents from the AFT and the NEA.) Then, the 2nd punch:
https://www.commoncorediva.com/2016/05/04/following-up/ (*Note: Exposed the Clinton Foundation, Tony Blair’s Foundation {United Kingdom}, and more.)

Since CCSS is global, the UK is also experiencing a dilemma we see almost daily in the news.  Catch up on the push back from parents there over too much testing. If you haven’t read about it: http://www.bbc.com/news/education-36188634

A Word of Warning for Home Educators:

This last article I am sharing from my blog is for every Warrior, but is especially vital to those who home educate. Why? Dual enrollment, early college classes, and AP courses are VERY popular among them. College and Career Readiness is a HUGE part of the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) language. So is Career Tech Education. Every one of the 50 States has BOTH! Here is an excerpt to share with every citizen, home educated or not,
“The most popular career-readiness indicators? a) dual enrollment (which includes homeschool students, AP course students and IB students); b) post-secondary enrollment(which includes any citizen seeking a higher education); c) CTE courses (includes apprenticeships or work-based learning); and d) students earning industry credentials(again, any citizen involved in this).”

Closing:

Thank you, Warriors, for all that you do. Have a great weekend. Hug Mom. If you can’t hug Mom, hug someone you love.

  1. Lynne-

I’m a little blurry-eyed this morning, but can you explain this. I’m not seeing the connection in the linked article.

    Thanks!

    1. Courtney, I hope you will be awake soon. Basically, the connection is that while some home educators will NOT use CCSS while in K-12, some will unknowingly walk right into the ‘adult version’ known as Career Tech Education via those early college promise programs, work based education apprenticeships or specialized trade schools, dual enrollment classes in community colleges, and then will be hit again when seeking employment if using a state run/funding job service (Here in NC they are called one-stop-job-centers). Please let me know if this is a bit clearer. Sorry if I confused you.
