It might be a day off for some, but not for the anti CCSS Warriors!

Anti CCSS Warriors, it’s the holiday weekend where those of us who are everyday citizens/workers can have a day of rest. However, I challenge you, those opposed to the War Against the Common Core to NOT take the day off. Why? Our students are our future. Our future needs protecting!

In honor of all the everyday folks out there, I’m giving you the MOST important information I’ve previously published which relate to labor. Labor has quickly become a HUGE part of the initiative behind the Common Core/Career Tech Education/College or Career Readiness/STEM, and all the other related standards, resources, or curriculum.

As I’ve done in other articles where I recap a particular aspect of the CCSS Machine, this one will be grouped by related key words associated with “workforce”. After all, what’s ‘labor’ without a ‘workforce’?

History of the Modern Day Workforce Alignment to CTE/CP/CC/AA:

CTE: Career Tech Education
CP: Career Pathways
CC: Career Clusters
AA: Aligned Apprentices

For a detailed look at how the U.S. Dept. of Labor and the U.S. Dept. of Education joined forces to align our students. Beginning with Manpower, Job Corps, CETA, Workforce for 2000, School-to-Work, Goals 2000, as well as many other programs in between, and ending with the WIOA 2014. See my article from October 2014, https://www.commoncorediva.com/2014/10/23/tech-thursday-blast-from-our-workforce-past/

For a look at one of the latest programs, “American Apprenticeships” (what I call “Aligned Apprentices”), read my article from February 2015: https://www.commoncorediva.com/2015/02/12/tech-thursday-aligned-apprentices/

Here’s a sentence from that article you will really need to see for yourselves, “In the Dept. of Labor’s words, “Learn and earn models that meet national standards”. So that means a person who is in the program is an apprentice who’s learning, earning while meeting national standards.” Also in that article is how you can access your state’s level of aligned apprenticeship programs.

Data, Data, Workforce Mining:

While most anti CCSS Warriors know the dangers of the massive data mining efforts via the SLDS (Student Longitudinal Data System), they may not be as aware of the same types of data mining in the post-secondary/workforce educational institutions. I’m not the first to uncover this, but I’ve made a consistent effort to show you as many key pieces of evidence which tie the CCSS Machine’s pre-K to 12th grade alignment to the post-secondary years.

This article from March 2015 exposed the IPEDS (Integrated PostSeconday Education Data System). It also gave you insight into how legislators in DC will embed all kinds of pro CCSS/CTE things into the re-authorization of the Higher Education Act. It showed you how the NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) oversees assessments (including post-secondary ones) which also massively data mine students. See: https://www.commoncorediva.com/2015/03/19/tech-thursday-ccss-workforce-pushing-labor-reform/

Back in November 2014, I gave you lots of data mining information on a state level, using NC as an example. Why would this be worth it to those of you not living in NC? It gives you names of departments that each state has. The names of the departments may not be exactly the same, but at least you have an idea of what type of department is involved in your state. For example, here’s an excerpt, “Justification for all this data? Accountability. Being accountable means rigorous measuring. Because if we can’t measure rigorously, how will we know that the Workforce is going to fit the agenda? The last paragraph or two details how it’s the Commission who will plot, plan, and begin the chain of implementation in NC. They have the Governor’s ear. They have the General Assembly’s attention. It also involves Common Core.” Access the article:

The Chambers:

One of the biggest supporters of aligned workforce minions for America is the US Chamber of Commerce. Helping them out are each of the state level Chambers, too. As if this isn’t bad enough, the media helps in distorting ‘facts’ which support how/why all this education/workforce alignment is fabulous. Here’s an article from October 2014 which not only shares how CNBC helped out, but how state government and the state workforce efforts are teaming up with the state level chamber of commerce. See: https://www.commoncorediva.com/2014/10/09/tech-thursday-ncs-workforce-despicable-moves/

This article exposes more about the US Chamber of Commerce, the state levels, and how Teach for America distort true education for the CCSS/CTE kind of education. Lots of useful details are in this one. Access it: https://www.commoncorediva.com/2015/05/22/fom-chambers-pot-of-lies-for-ccss/

Job Developers or Workforce Creators:

This last category for my Labor Day Special shows you how Job Development Grants are being misused to promote aligned workforce education that’s consistent with the CCSS Machine’s agenda.

This article I published showed you how NC (as an example) has embedded state legislation to use the grant money for such a purpose. It will also share with you a national effort to align those who are poverty-stricken. Get it:

The SBA (Small Business Administration) is really into the Career Tech Education, College/Career Readiness efforts as well. Here’s a big article all about it. https://www.commoncorediva.com/2015/02/10/ftf-the-sba-and-common-core/

STEM Workforce:

Yes, STEM is most definitely part of the CCSS Machine! It’s also a big part of the Workforce alignment, too. Here are 2 articles about how the STEM, the Career Readiness, the Workforce, and the re-authorization of the HEA are all interconnected.

CLOSING:

So there you have it, my fellow anti CCSS Warriors. Lots of labor related useful information to help you fight the Common Core/Career Tech Education/Career Readiness movement that is a huge part of this effort to undermine America via education reform. I hope your Labor Day is great, that you find this detailed information helpful, and, that you still keep fighting for our students to be freed from this awful situation.
